Farm Crew Team Member
Job Description
Farm crew team members work on a wide variety of organic farming tasks under the direction of the farm manager or farm owner. They should be interested about learning all aspects of organic vegetable production, and be able to perform physically demanding labor in all weather conditions. Farm crew members can expect to learn about many aspects of a diversified small farm operation. The farm is a fast paced, demanding working environment–especially on harvest and market days. This role requires someone with physical strength, stamina, and focus/attention to detail. We work together but many of the tasks are independent by nature. An ideal candidate will be able to learn quickly, accept and integrate instructions/feedback, be proactive, and have an attitude that supports teamwork and a positive work environment. Although the work can be demanding it is very rewarding for the right person!
Some of the daily tasks performed by the farm crew include: planting, weeding, watering, harvesting and processing field crops, bed building, irrigation set up and repair, crop inspection, general maintenance, assistance with the Farmers Market and weekend events, deliveries, etc
Prior experience working on a farm, landscaping or construction business is preferred but not required.
Qualifications
- Interest in organic, sustainable and regenerative farming
- Ability to take feedback and use it constructively
- Strong communication, problem solving and collaboration skills
- Ability to quickly and effectively communicate issues with farm manager or owner
- Ready to work hard physically each day. Must be able to lift at least 50lbs.

- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions: heat, cold, rain, etc
- Ability to take direction and be flexible and adaptable as tasks and priorities change frequently.
- Ability to perform physically demanding and repetitive tasks
- Ability to follow instructions and ask questions when clarification is necessary
- A mind for efficiency, attention to detail, organization and a sense of urgency in tasks
- Willingness to take initiative and make independent decisions when necessary
- Ability to learn and use hand tools and other farm specific equipment
- Good at prioritizing daily/weekly/monthly tasks

Work Expectations and Compensation
- Full or part time (20-40 hours/week). Seasonal March-December, with sick time.
- Hourly rate based on experience: Starting $18/hr. Raises and paid time off after one year of employment, additional responsibilities, and skills acquired on farm.

Farm Crew Water/Compost Delivery Driver- Forestdale Farm
Job Description
Farm work would include all things related to growing organically (Bed prepping, planting, weeding, harvesting, preparing for markets, working markets, etc). The farm is a fast paced, demanding working environment, especially on harvest and market days. This role requires someone with physical strength, stamina, and focus/attention to detail who can also work at an effective pace. Each member of the crew will be responsible for certain tasks on a weekly basis. We work together but many of the tasks are independent by nature. An ideal candidate will be able to learn quickly, accept and integrate instructions/feedback, be proactive, and have an attitude that supports teamwork and a positive work environment. The majority of the work is physical and in the outdoor elements with various weather conditions. Driving would include errands with farm trucks and trailers. Including water and compost pick up and deliveries. We have a standard work truck F350, flatbed trailer, and a larger dump/water truck F650. Does not require a commercial driver’s license but experience with larger vehicles and trailers is required. There will be occasional infrastructure and construction projects as well. Although the work can be demanding it is very rewarding for the right person!
Job Requirements:

- 20-40 hours per week. The ideal candidate would 2/3rds of their hours on the farm and the rest doing truck deliveries/pick ups. Sick time included.

Requirements: Must be capable of demanding physical labor, work outdoors. Truck and trailer driving experience required.

An ideal candidate will be able to learn quickly, accept and integrate instructions/feedback, be proactive, and have an attitude that supports teamwork and a positive leadership role. They should also be able to oversee and manage others easily. Although the work can be demanding it is very rewarding for the right person!

Farm Manager
Job Description
We are looking for someone who has at least three years of experience on high production vegetable farms. The farm manager will work closely with the farm owner to plan, execute and oversee daily farm tasks and projects. They will be responsible for managing all sides of production and leading a small crew in daily tasks. We are always looking for ways to better organize and optimize our farm operations and are open to trying new ways to make our processes better for the team. The farm manager will have a vital role in contributing to the farm’s production and success while developing a sense of community on the farm.
Organizing and leading day-to-day farm work
In coordination with the farm owner:
- Manage our seedling and garden starts production. We grow over 10,000 seedlings for our community. In addition, we do succession plantings of many seedlings for the farm.
- Lead in bed preparation, planting, succession planting, transplanting, and cultivation of vegetable crops. Including managing different planting schedules for markets, restaurants, and wholesale clients.
- Manage high production (multiple plantings and harvests per week) of salad greens, baby greens, and microgreens.
- Communicate with restaurants and wholesale clients to coordinate and deliver weekly orders. Help manage weekly Farmers Market and self-serve CSA distribution.
- Soil management, compost production and amending soils.
- Lead in harvesting, washing and packing produce with a keen eye for food safety protocols and produce quality.
Directing Farm Crew
In coordination with the farm owner.
- Instruct, delegate and manage farm apprentices and farm crew (up to 4 employees, depending on the day). Maintain efficient systems, workflow, and production with crew.
- Help with training farm crew and be able to give constructive, direct and gentle feedback as needed.
- Responsible for all farm crew and farm leads
- Oversee volunteer groups of different ages and experience levels.
- Maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Maintaining a safe and comfortable work space.
- Foster a healthy and happy farm community with workers.
Machinery
- Comfortability driving small farm trucks and vehicles for deliveries and markets.
- Preferred ability, or willingness to learn, how to drive a trailer.
- Comfortable with hand tools used for small scale production, including hand drill operated tools like tilther and quick-cut harvesters.
- Familiar with construction tools, saws, drills, etc.
Required Qualifications
- Three years minimum experience on production based farms, with a preference for microgreen, baby greens, and leafy green production.
- Ability to plan and manage the daily and weekly workflow of the farm, including people and different tasks.
- Understanding of farm production systems, including irrigation, planting, plant life cycles, disease and pest management, harvest and post-harvest handling.
- Ability to operate with autonomy after being trained in farm-specific production systems
- Excellent time management and strong sense of efficiency and pace
- Strong communication skills, positive attitude, and problem solving skills
- Must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Comfortable handling farm animals, including chickens and rabbits.
- Flexible schedule with extended hours possible during the busiest parts of the season.
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs
- Construction and maintenance experience preferred
Work Expectations and Compensation
- Full time (30-40 hours/week), year-round if desired or seasonal March-December, with sick time and 1 week paid time off.
- Hourly rate based on experience: Starting $20-25/hr. Raises and paid time off after one year of employment, additional responsibilities, and skills acquired on farm.
Commitment
- Seasonal March–December, or possible year-round if desired.
